In the agricultural world, autumn is a time to celebrate the harvest of the year and prepare the land for its new beginning in the spring. This past year we have seen the addition of laying hens to the farm as well as an indoor vermiculture composting system, and an aerated outdoor composting system. We have had the exterior of the small greenhouse renovated, and the watering system of the large greenhouse overhauled to be able to water different sections of the greenhouse at different times. We have also seen the addition of new pasture areas for our goat herd which we hope to increase in size in the near future.
All of these campus improvements have been completed under the guidance and direction of our farm manager, Brooks Binau. Sadly, Brooks will not be continuing his work at Great Kids Farm as he has recently resigned to pursue other personal interests. We are incredibly grateful for the vision and work he has brought to the farm, and wish him well with all his future harvests. He will be greatly missed by all.
