Your contributions this year have helped make Friends of Great Kids Farm a valued resource for the 85,000 students served by Baltimore City Public Schools.
We are deeply grateful for your continued support. With your help, we are connecting the vibrancy of the farm to thousands of Baltimore City Public School students—whether students are visiting the farm for a Learning Journey, attending a Healthy Eating Healthy Living summit with advanced training in nutrition and other subjects, or eating our farm fresh produce in their cafeteria salad bar.
Your gift is extremely important because it offers immediate resources that are directed to current needs and opportunities to educate and support the students we serve. With your help, we’ve been able to:
- Offer free or reduced transportation for students who might not otherwise be able to come to the farm,
- Expand our programming to include greater access to farm animals, including a flock of chickens and a pair of goats; a modernized greenhouse where hands-on learning takes place; two new compost systems (one powered by worms!), and water quality education using our on-site stream as an outdoor classroom.
Your gift will make an immediate impact on our students. Eighty-five percent of Baltimore City Public School students are low-income, and the funding Friends of Great Kids Farm raises makes a meaningful visit to the Farm a reality for students. This January and February alone, Friends will sponsor Learning Journeys for eight schools that have never been to the farm with funding provided by you, our generous donors.
Would you be willing to help us reach more students?
- Your gift of $30 will sponsor one student to visit the farm.
- Your gift of $300 will sponsor a classroom of students to visit the farm.
Our Executive Director, Farm Educator, Chef Educator, Program and Farm Assistants and Custodian—everyone here who works to educate and support students—joins me in thanking you for your generous partnership and support.
Thank you so much for your help.
Sincerely,
Alison Hickman
Board Chair
