Great Kids Farm began providing produce to a handful of school salad bars in 2013. This year, the Farm is scaling up its production to regularly provide farm-fresh veggies to sixty Baltimore City Public Schools. Schools are selected to receive produce based on their interactions with Great Kids Farm or other gardening initiatives. When produce arrives on the salad bar, the beets, carrots, cabbage, cucumbers, or lettuce identified as from Great Kids Farm is connected to their experiences at the Farm or in their school garden. This video provides insight into the power of connecting students to the source of healthy foods.
